Upcoming high season 2026

☀️ Summer 2026: The peak season is underway

In the coming weeks, the transport industry is expected to be very busy, while vacations and reduced staffing during the summer may affect deliveries.

Start planning well in advance

To reduce the risk of delays, it is important to plan transport well in advance. By reviewing your freight flows now, you can create better conditions for deliveries to arrive according to plan. Please book a meeting with our customer developers to go over what you can do for the period. We will help you with information about delivery times, capacity and shipments with time-critical requirements, among other things.

Delivery times

During the weeks before and during the summer holidays, delivery times may be longer than normal. This applies especially to deliveries to drop-off points and home deliveries, where the increased volumes are often most noticeable. In most cases, this is 1 to 2 extra delivery days, but in certain areas or periods, the delays may be longer. Locations that are not served every day of the week may have significantly longer lead times during the summer. This is because extra deliveries are not normally made, which means that the goods instead have to wait until the next regular departure.

Limited staffing and summer staff at freight companies can also affect handling and transport times during the summer.

☝️Please note that all delivery times, regardless of the freight service or delivery method, are estimates and should be seen as a guide. Deliveries can be affected by, for example, high load, traffic, weather, capacity shortages or other unforeseen events within the transport chain. This means that delivery times cannot be guaranteed and that financial compensation is normally not offered in the event of delays.

Express freight

Express freight is prioritized for terminal handling and transhipments, which often means faster delivery even during periods of high load. However, when large quantities of express goods are sent at the same time, it can affect financial services, which in some cases can have longer delivery times than normal because express shipments are prioritized first in the transport flow.

Delivery points & parcel boxes

During periods of high freight volumes, return points and parcel boxes may be full. When capacity is limited, the carrier may therefore choose another nearby agent or another parcel box for delivery. Please read more about how long shipments remain at return points and in parcel boxes.

Import & export within Europe and the rest of the world

During the summer, the capacity for international transport may vary between different countries and destinations. Reduced staffing, fewer departures and high demand can affect both imports and exports to and from Sweden. This may mean longer lead times, changed transport arrangements and limited capacity on certain routes. Please contact us if you would like an estimate of delivery times or help planning international shipments during the period.

Five great tips right now

1️⃣ Check the packaging extra carefully

As shipping volumes increase, so does the risk of damage. Make sure the goods are properly packaged and follow the recommendations for the current type of transport, even during stressful periods.

2️⃣ Think through notification and reception

During the summer, many people work from other locations and some companies have limited opening hours or are closed for the holidays. Therefore, check contact details, delivery addresses and whether special options are needed to ensure that reception works smoothly.

3️⃣ Mark the goods clearly

Additional markings on the packaging, such as logos, tape or stickers, can help the carrier if the address label is damaged or comes off. An extra address label inside the package can also be crucial for a successful delivery.

4️⃣ Report damage immediately

If the goods have been damaged during transport, Shiplink's customer service needs to be notified as soon as possible and no later than seven days from receipt.

5️⃣ Inform recipients and colleagues in advance

Set the right expectations internally and externally by informing that delivery times may be longer than normal during the summer. This reduces the risk of misunderstandings and unnecessary stress.
