Customs authority decision

When goods are sent outside the EU, they must pass through the customs authorities of the recipient country.

The customs authority determines which fees apply based on the documents (e.g. customs declaration) submitted with the booking. The fees are also affected by the delivery terms specified when booking.

☝️ Once the goods have passed through customs and costs have been determined, these will be charged even if the goods are not delivered to the recipient.

If the recipient does not pay

If it is stated that the recipient must pay the fees, but the recipient does not, the costs may instead be invoiced to you as the person who booked the transport.

These costs cannot be disputed but are charged according to our or the carrier's terms and conditions. They must be paid within the specified invoice period.

Your responsibility as a sender

If you think that someone else should bear the cost, you can claim the money from your customer yourself - we cannot do this for you.

All costs are always linked to the person who booked the transport with us and must be paid in full.

Disputing incorrect customs declarations

Incorrect customs declarations can sometimes be contested, but this must be done in the country where the decision was made.

In most cases, Shiplink cannot help with this.
